Singer Chris Brown was scheduled to appear on “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central with Trevor Noah on Tuesday, but was suddenly dropped from the schedule without any reason given.
The cancellation came a day after there were reports that some staff on the show were not comfortable with Brown’s appearance. A source stated that staffers were divided over Brown, citing his history of violence. Brown was also charged with misdemeanor assault in Washington two years ago while he was on probation.
Breezy was still listed on television schedules as the guest on “The Daily Show” when the program started, but Noah announced at the beginning of the show that he would be interviewing actor Nick Cannon.
The 26-year-old singer, who is infamous for his assault on former girlfriend Rihanna in 2009 and his outbursts on social media, was reportedly appearing to promote his new album. However, the host chatted with “America’s Got Talent” host Nick Cannon instead.
An insider revealed, “While many staffers disapprove of the booking decision, host Trevor Noah allegedly hopes to use the interview to bring light to domestic abuse issues. Our sources confirmed that Noah brought up such a possibility during an all-hands meeting on Monday afternoon.”
A Comedy Central spokesperson said The Daily Show hopes to re-book Brown in the future.
Brown also received some bad news on Tuesday about his upcoming tour in New Zealand and Australia. Thtat has now been cancelled. The Australian government will deny Brown’s visa due to his conviction for assaulting Rihanna in 2009.
