Chile! Y’all heard what happened between Nas and Erykah Badu in the studio?! Lawd…

ErykahBaduNas5_article It was revealed earlier this month that Erykah Badu and Nas were collaborating on the soundtrack for the film, “The Land.” The sad yet beautiful song, “This Bitter Land” premiered today, ahead of the movie and soundtrack release on Friday.

In the song, Nas begins with “Running on the concrete, across the train tracks / The devil is behind me, and the ghetto’s where you’ll find me / It’s where I stays at” and addresses police brutality. He then tells those making the decisions that are negatively impacting him and his community, “stop riding me, stop driving us into a suicidal ideology.” Badu sings as violins play.

“The Land” is an independent film about skateboarder kids in Cleveland. Erykah Badu stars in the movie and Nas is one of the executive producers. Other stars include Michael K. Williams (“The Wire,” “Boardwalk Empire”), and rapper Machine Gun Kelly. It’s directed by Steven Caple Jr. and executive produced by Nas. The film premiered earlier this year at the Sundance Music Festival.
